DeployStudio Server 1.0rc20
What's new
Core
-the new asr option --allowfragmentedcatalog is automatically enabled when using asr version 142 and newer,
-“Time” task to configure the system network time server and time zone.
July 12, 2010
Admin & Runtime
-new secure erase levels added to the partition task,
-ignore package installation failure option added to the packages installation task,
-the Software Update task will append automatically the correct catalog index file to the Software Update Server base URL according to the restored system version.
You need to review your workflows to fix the server URL.
-Boot Camp Windows computer name can be set manually in the Computers database using DeployStudio Admin or Runtime (requires the workflow to contain a Hostname form). The computer renaming occurs automatically after the disk image is restored if the Runtime finds Sysprep configuration files on the restored file system.
-NTFS volume automatic expansion can be disabled when editing the restoration task of a workflow.
Admin
-ability to install automatically a DeployStudio Server update from the server or official website.
Runtime
-automatic local cache volume lookup. Using a local volume to create all the intermediate disk image files will preserve network bandwidth and improve reliability.
Assistant
-Core-ix based Mac Book Pro support added,
-new DeployStudio Netboot sets will load the file /etc/deploystudio-env.conf if it exists before launching DeployStudio Runtime.
It will enable you to declare custom environment variables if needed.
Bug fixes
Core
-the Software Update script is now suppressed only when no more updates are available. It allows updates depending on previous ones to get installed after a couple of reboots.
-reenabling the login window and window server on post-install scripts completion,
-improved reliability of directory binding scripts (thanks to Kaltekar),
-Active Directory binding search/contact paths setup,
-improved encoding of special characters in log files,
-NTFS disk images not moved to final repository destination.
Admin & Runtime
-exception when saving Software Update configuration without specifying a local software update server,
-Active Directory “force local home directories” option management.
Admin
-save button status when clicking on the postponed package installation option,
-save button not disabled after saving a workflow,
-disk image type detection when editing a workflow restoration task.
Runtime
-a disk image should not be deleted from the local cache volume if the file upload to the repository fails,
-improved restored volume name lookup to prevent post-restoration task to be applied to the wrong volume,
-AD plugin options are configured before trying to bind,
-CM_BUILD and COMMAND_LINE_INSTALL environment variables are now correctly set before the installer command line is launched (live and first boot installation),
-restoring a device disk image to the first available disk,
-restoration progress when using a device disk image.
Assistant
-tar symlink fixed (requires creating a new NetBoot set),
-10.6 NetBoot set fix for NTFS/EXT disk images restoration (requires creating a new NetBoot set).
Notes
-Future releases of DeployStudio will require Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6.
-We strongly recommend to create new DeployStudio NetBoot sets with the DeployStudio Assistant shipped with this release.
-HFS volumes imaging may take a while to properly release the generated disk image (progression bar near or equal to 100% completion). Please be patient or plug the computer to image to the server in target mode.
-creating Mac OS X disk images over NFS or CIFS may not work (hdiutil freezes after writing a couple bytes).
We’ve not reproduced this with Mac OS X 10.6 based DeployStudio NetBoot sets.
