Image created with Image Task schow symbolic link

Hi,

When I created an new volume image with Runtime, the image show symbolic link /etc, /tmp, /var at the root level.

Is an abnormal behavior or I don't have to care about that?

Thank for all thinks you do for us!

Re: Image created with Image Task schow symbolic link

That's normal. Don't forget that this image will be restored on a volume where you'll probably boot on. So, the symlinks don't have to be changed.

$ ls -l /
total 41021
lrwxr-xr-x@  1 root  admin        11 Oct 24 10:19 etc -> private/etc
lrwxr-xr-x@  1 root  admin        11 Oct 24 10:19 tmp -> private/tmp
lrwxr-xr-x@  1 root  admin        11 Oct 24 10:19 var -> private/var

Re: Image created with Image Task schow symbolic link

Ok clear that I don't want to change the right of these symlinks.
But in a standard OS X install with an Apple DVD for example, these links are not visible from the Finder only from the Terminal.
In my case these symlinks are visible from the Finder with a Deploy Studio Server restoration.
Is it a normal behavior of Deploy Studio Server? (It was not the case with Deploy Studio)

Ooops, didn't get your point...
No, these files should be hidden after restoration.
Are you restoring a 10.5 diskimage with a 10.4 netboot system (or vice versa)?

May you check the Runtime log file if there's any error after the image is restored ?

Re: Image created with Image Task schow symbolic link

Found the problem!

In my two master machines (PPC and Intel), I used a MacOS X 10.4.11 system with Deploy Studio Server to create my images.

Upgrade these two systems in Leopard and everything is ok now.

Thank you for you help!
