Failing to capture 10.13 image with 1.7.8

Trying to capture a 10.13 image to a DS 1.7.8 test server, I get an error during the hdutil create phase:

/usr/bin/hdutil create -uid 0 -gid 0 -mode 755 -format UDZO -fs APFS -puppetstrings -srcfolder "/Volumes/Macintosh HD" "/Volumes/Macintosh HD/10.13_LASP_102017.i386.apfs.dmg" 2>&1
could not access /Volumes/Macintosh HD/./usr/bin/pstruct5.18 - No such file or directory
hdutil: create failed - No such file or directory

I dug into the image and found that the file indeed does not exist, by why does it even care what's in the image?

Interestingly, if I try to create that file in the image, I get the same error:

touch /usr/bin/pstruct5.18
touch: pstruct5.18: No such file or directory

Could this be related to SIP?

Would love any help with this!

Is your netboot image also 10.13? I have seen errors like that when booted from 10.12.6.
To be honest: I have not done many capturing of APFS, I use autoDMG generated images.

Re: Failing to capture 10.13 image with 1.7.8

It is not 10.13, but the image it was created from DOES have that file, so maybe that's a bug in the netboot creation process?

I will test creating a 10.13 netboot set anyways, and post back with results shortly.

Ok, upgrading the server to 10.13 and recreating the netboot disk solved the capture problem. Thanks for the advice!
