Some assistance required

I have made a apfs disk image of high sierra using auto dmg, now I want to create a workflow to partition the selected disk (ssd obviously) as apfs and then restore the apfs image. The regular partition step does not allow me to specify as apfs, it formats it as hfs+

How do I go about making it partition as apfs?

Re: Some assistance required

I believe you can convert the HFS+ volume to apfs, but you may need to script it using diskutil?

Using the forum Search tool with the string "apfs", I found this right below your post
http://www.deploystudio.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?id=7947

Give that a read, or perform your own search and examine other posts regarding apfs.
