iMac 18,3 (2017 Retina 5k) 10.12.6 NetBoot failures DS 1.7.6

Has anyone successfully created a working NetBoot set based on 10.12.6 using the DeployStudio Assistant (1.7.6) for the latest generation of iMac?  Specifically the 18,3.  Have tried creating on the 18,3 after a clean internet restore, from a dmg created with AutoDMG using the current macOS installer, and from a MacPro running 10.12.6.   I have been able to boot from a NetBoot, NetRestore and NetInstall when created by System Image Utility, so it's nothing related to the iMac hardware or server.  Same NetBoot sets created by the Assistant that fail on the 18,3 work just fine on a handful other hardware types I had around to test.  Wondering if anyone else finds themselves in this boat.

Hey Chris,

I just got in several iMacs (18,1). I'm seeing the same issue as you.   Did you find a solution for this yet?  I'm going to try a few things. If I figure it out I'll reply back.

As best as I could determine the problem was occurring with the 1.7.6 runtime.  I was able to get a netboot set build using 1.7.5 on 10.12.6 to boot and image.  It had issues with automatically picking drives to fusion, but pointing it to /dev/disk0 and /dev/disk1 worked.

Re: iMac 18,3 (2017 Retina 5k) 10.12.6 NetBoot failures DS 1.7.6

Interesting.  I'm running 1.7.5.  and I created a netboot set on the new iMac and placed it on the server. (the new iMacs are 10.12.5)..   Well I downloaded the 1.7.6 and created the netboot and now I get a mismatch.  So I'm about to update to 1.7.6.  And I'll see what happens.

In the work flow for target volume, how did u do both /dev/disk0 and /dev/disk1?

Not sure if it helps, but I got 18,2 iMacs running just fine with combination of 10.12.6 netboot set and 1.7.4 DS

Registered to say the same thing. I just got a whole lab full of 21" 4K iMacs and a 27" 5K for the teaching station. None are netbooting with 1.7.6 and 10.12.6. :/

Same issue here... We received 60 iMacs 18,1... I hope there is a solution within a few days...

I found a solution: just create the netboot set on the new iMac (we first updated to 10.12.6) and copy it to the server. So there is a difference between the 'public' 10.12.6 and the version running on the iMac 1,8.

There are build numbers associated with the versions of macOS installed (about this mac, click once on the version number to see the build).
New machines (with new components) released after an macOS update are likely to have a different (newer/higher) build number than the current OS version publicly released.

If it is a newer/higher build number, then you will need to build off of the new machines.
Typically, you build netboot sets (and probably, new deployment images) off the most recently released hardware you have in your fleet.
In some cases, they are backward compatible, but you should keep a separate netboot set and image for the new hardware, until the next macOS update is released (often referred to as a "unifying build") which have historically been backward compatible with all (as listed by Apple) of your existing hardware.

Re: iMac 18,3 (2017 Retina 5k) 10.12.6 NetBoot failures DS 1.7.6

I am getting this same exact issue.  Tried creating the netboot set on the new 2017 imacs and then copying them over, the machines netboot, and the server can even see them in OSX Server netinstall app but the systems never netboot.  They just sit on the black OSX apple loading window.  I even tried creating the netboot set from the server itself, no dice.  Anyone have a thought as to how to fix this?  I would be so very grateful.

Same here.  I posted a question here: http://www.deploystudio.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?pid=29685#p29685
