Re: build v1.7.7 cannot create bootable NetBoot Set

Maybe it's time to finally  get away from this type of deployment method. :-(

Re: build v1.7.7 cannot create bootable NetBoot Set

I had no problems creating a 10.12-NetBootSet, everything boots fine. Same for 10.13...

It's not working for me either on 10.12.6. I've reverted to 1.7.6 for NBI creation for now.

Re: build v1.7.7 cannot create bootable NetBoot Set

I ran into an issue on this as well. I found that SIP was preventing me from connecting to DP. I had to run (from recovery)

/usr/bin/csrutil disable

This allowed me to Netboot. After I completed a restore, I cleared the NVRAM to re-enable SIP. The easiest way to do that is run from terminal:

sudo nvram -c; reboot

v1.7.8 fixes this issue.

Re: build v1.7.7 cannot create bootable NetBoot Set

Still does not appear to work on Macbook Pros needing an Ethernet adapter and netbooting across subnets.
Seems to be OK with DS Server on same network.  Other Netboot Sets work just fine, all 2016 and older hardware unaffected.
I see it, Globe Spins for a minute, then boots do the denied circle with a line through it.
Thoughts Admin?

Did you try to Netboot in verbose mode?
It may give you some hints.

Re: build v1.7.7 cannot create bootable NetBoot Set

I read macmules struggles with netbooting,

https://macmule.com/2017/09/26/autocaspernbi-autoimagrnbi-1-4-0-high-sierra-compatible-sadness/

maybe one of the suggestions (server over HTTP or NFS) work for you too?

I make a .nbi on a Macbook 2011 running Sierra, source is image (HFS!) created with AutoDMG of 10.13 (GM) , using DS 1.7.8 works for me.
It is slow in netbooting from 10.12.5 server, but it works.
So try on an other mac, or use dmg source. There may be some special kexts or files on your iMac

On the master, try running the 10.12.6 Combo Updater on it, then create the .nbi?
