Can DeployStudio be installed on a Windows Server?

Thought I'd ask.

Re: Can DeployStudio be installed on a Windows Server?

Short answer: NO
Long answer: There are several parts of DeployStudio, and only one needs a mac server.

A-The core server deamon (deploystudioserver, accessable through https://x.x.x.:60443) MUST run on a mac (preferably fixed IP address).
B-The repository can be on any file server (afp, smb)
C-The netboot (NetInstall) server is handy to run on a Mac, but with VM's like NetSUS (https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/viewProduct.html?id=180&view=info)  or bsdpy in Docker (https://github.com/bruienne/bsdpy) you can run this service on other platforms too.
D-The admin tool MUST run on a Mac (but can be any client, and since you want to deploy Mac's you must have these around...)
E- Creation of packages, images and .nbi's must be on a Mac (see D)

There is a person who tries to run the deamon on the netbooted client, but that looks to me a slippery road.

If you want (must) deploy Mac's without a Mac server, look into imagr (https://github.com/grahamgilbert/imagr).
It has fewer automation options than deploystudio, but most organisations switch to thin imaging + managment with munki or Casper, so that could be a workaround for you.

Re: Can DeployStudio be installed on a Windows Server?

Most appreciated. We're moving from our own domain to a large one. We wouldn't be able to have our own OS X imaging solution.
