looking at possibly implementing this software, need more information.

I have beed reading on the internet and I have been reading on this forum for a few days. I found a guide dated 2011 and a quick install that is dated 2015. I have been reading the forum and notice that there is a process to follow to get this software to work at least partly, is that documented in a different thread? Are there any modern articles to read that discuss the successes found or something. most of the things I have found for this software are ranging from 2009 - 2015. I know that someone mentioned Jamf, I reached out to ask some questions one time and they still email me like champs. I just need more than what I am reading to give me a warm fuzzy that says "yeah, I should use this."

Re: looking at possibly implementing this software, need more information.

You will probably want to use this software if you are staying on/have a large fleet of machines running 10.12.x or lower.
With 10.13, Apple has stated imaging is not supported.

That means, you will not want to capture an image of a 10.13+ machine if you can help it.
The good news, is that you can still use it to deploy most applications, and custom configuration to 10.13+ machines.

The "imaging" process would most basically be, boot into recovery, erase "Macintosh HD", reinstall the OS, netboot and deploy the add-on apps and custom configuration. A bit time consuming.

You could perform application installs and custom configuration (though I have not gone there...) through an MDM solution, though this possibly involves multiple tools/services configuration, service accounts, network port wrangling, converting plists to MDM profiles, setting expectations/policy,.. for an entirely different workflow.
