Upgrade OSX with DS

My previous post about how can install a new machine or reinstall it automatic work fine now. But this is for a new system or i will lose al my data. But now my next question is how can i upgrade these systems. i like to upgrade a few computers at the same time from el capitan to Sierra. But what are the steps to realize this?

Re: Upgrade OSX with DS

You can do this in DS, but it may not be the best tool for it.
Use the tool "https://github.com/munki/createOSXinstallPkg " to make a .pkg from the Install OS sierra app, and make a DS workflow that only has 'install a pkg' step.
Postponed or not, test that out. (I have tested this for 10.10->10.11 updates, not tested for sierra yet)

FileVault on the client makes this very difficult to automate !
Tools like Munki are better suited to manage this, but if you don't use Munki or that kind of system, DS can do it for you.

It may be much easier to use Apple's Sytem Image Utility and create a netinstall from the Install OS X sierra app.
add that to your netinstall server, and clients can select this to boot from, run the installer, it wil do an update.
Agred, this is not to much automatic as DS.... but it is an option for users (Self Service methods)
