ARD in 1.6.8 (140528)

Hello all,

I have been actively reading these forums for a few months now since i decided to adopt DeployStudio as the deployment solution for my organization. I have been using it quite successfully with one exception. Since i have started using it i have never been able to get the ARD/VNC to work at all. I have included the desired username and password in the nbi setup. I have also used ard to check the status of the machine when booted into the nbi and can see "Screen Sharing Available" but cannot connect via ARD at all. When i try VNC:// IP address it prompts me for username and password and rejects the one i set up during the nbi build. Is this a known issue? if it matters my password does contain !$ as special characters, does this pose an issue? I have not been able to find a solution by surfing through the forums and do apologize if this is a repost or a known issue as i do not wish to waste anyones time.

I have about 400 macs spread across 5 buildings that i am imaging and integrating into AD due to the fact that previous members of our team decided copying and pasting a fully configured machine with superduper was a good practice. Being able to fully automate this without visiting the buildings would greatly speed up the process for me. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I thank you all kindly for your time.

Does the server that DeployStudio Server is running on have an account on it with the username and password that you've specified?

Re: ARD in 1.6.8 (140528)

Rather than trying to use Screen Sharing or ARD to connect, have you tried via DeployStudio Admin itself?

Also, the user name you define in the netboot set and DS Runtime is not linked to a real user account so it must be exactly matched, for example if you used "joesmith" then "Joe Smith" will not work whereas for normal Mac connections it might. (This is relating to short names vs. full names for user accounts.)

For the sake of follow up... (Holy Thread Resurrection Batman) our issues with ARD was a misconfigured firewall not anything within DS. I do appreciate the reply and apologize that i never followed up until now.
