Shutdown task also includes restart

I would like to propse a feature request for the shutdown task to also have an option to restart.  This seems like an obvious choice to me so that imaging can finish unattended and then reboot the computer so that all first-boot tasks can run.

Thanks,

Re: Shutdown task also includes restart

Restart is the default, shutdown is the 'special' setting, so don't use this task if you want to restart..:-)

Re: Shutdown task also includes restart

I Second this, all my workflows seem to get stuck at "... completed successfully: press continue or quit"

it would be nice if i could get or force the machines to reboot upon completion

<edit>
...duh... just added a generic script to run "reboot", and when I eventually remembered to press "automate" it worked.
so once I add that to all my workflows I'm all set.

Ok, auto reboot/shutdown is designed to work in NetBoot mode only.
It's managed by the system startup script which launches the Runtime then restart or shutdown the computer once the user quits the application.

Re: Shutdown task also includes restart

If you're NetBooting, you can also configure an automatic restart on workflow completion when creating the NetBoot set.

Re: Shutdown task also includes restart

It would be nice if custom properties were exported along with all of the other "DS_foo" environment variables in the ds_0001.sh scripts that set up the postponed execution of generic script tasks.

Re: Shutdown task also includes restart

The addition of the Shutdown task was a nice improvement. But I think what we need is something like a "Postponed Shutdown" option for the Shutdown Task, that is somewhat like the "Postponed Installation" on the Package Install task.

If checked, the Mac would finish all of it's other Deploy Studio related tasks, including those that are delayed for first boot. But once these are done, it would shut down, instead of just sitting there, turned on.

Currently, if the shutdown task is enabled, it doesn't do those tasks scheduled to run after first restart, till you turn it on again.

Currently, it probably could be simulated by having a script run at first boot, that did something like spawn a task, that waits 10 minutes, then shuts down. But it would be more elegant if it were enabled by a check box on the Shutdown Task GUI, and if it were scheduled by DS to be the last thing to be done, after everything else, including other postponed tasks, were run.
