Hostname getting changed by configd back to the default name.

Server: Mac Mini 10.7.2
DS rc133

It looks like there is an issue with 10.8 resetting the hostname during the start-up process. I've stripped the workflow back to the most basic, (10.8 + 10.8.2 + computer rename + network time server), and get the below.

Syslog: (Due to open forum, DS hostname replaced with 'correct_DS_name' and IP's with 0.0.0.0)

Without a valid hostname the Centrify bind is failing. I have tried to get around this by getting the variable $LocalHostName from ds_rename_computer.sh and setting that as the user in the bind, but am getting inconsistent results, one in three rebuilds will fail to set the hostname correctly.

DS scripts:
1.
/usr/sbin/scutil --get LocalHostName >> /Library/Scripts/mac_hostname.txt

2.
ighostname=`cat /Library/Scripts/mac_hostname.txt`

adlicense -l

adleave -r -u “USER” -p “PW”

adjoin -u -u “USER” -p “PW” -n $ighostname -c "OU=Workstations,OU=Production Services,OU=??,DC=??,DC=??,DC=local" -z default -f ??.??.local

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Cheers

Jason.

Re: Hostname getting changed by configd back to the default name.

I've opened a call with Apple and will report back anything useful.

Cheers

Jason.

Re: Hostname getting changed by configd back to the default name.

Apple have come back with this as a solution ( Doesn't work for us as we use a none windows based DHCP and DNS) but maybe useful to others.
